Hymn Remakes - Episode #296

Classic hymns of the faith, like "Blessed Assurance," "Rock of Ages," and "Be Thou My Vision" get a modern molding at the hands of some of today's Christian songwriters. We also chat with Cindy Morgan, Randall Goodgame, and Andrew Greer on the importance of hymns.

Producer Notes:

There may not be a better example of "gourmet music" than the hymns.  They are spiritually significant, transcend generational and denominational lines, and have stood the test of time.  I love hearing remakes of these classic songs, and often times it breaths new life into these vintage choruses.  One track that really blew me away was Steven Curtis Chapman's rootsy, down-home remake of "Blessed Assurance," which is one of my all-time favorite hymns.  We also love finding new-to-us musicians, and we feature three UTR debuts this week.  Plus, I loved the interview clips from Cindy, Randall, & Andrew.  (Dave)
