You Can Help Eric Peters Make More Music
It's hard to believe that I didn't even know who Eric Peters was or even heard one of his songs just 3 years ago. Since then, together, we have driven over 3000 miles, gone to 6 used bookstores, dined on over 75 meals, and consumed 1,087 ounces of Starbucks' beverages (give or take). In just the last 19 months, Eric has surpassed DC Talk as White Heart as the artist I've seen play live the most in my life -- 31 live performances to be exact.
In that time, Eric & I have formed a strong friendship. We both have our own unique set of rough edges, but there's a shared level of trust and acceptence between us -- definitely a picture of Heavenly grace in my life. One of the qualities I admire most about a person is honesty, and if you know Eric, you're aware he is an open book. The last couple of years have been emotionally, spiritually, and financially trying on Eric -- and being able to walk side-by-side through a portion of that has been a great joy in my life.
I remember bumping into Andrew Peterson at a conference last year, and almost our whole conversation was about Eric. Andrew said, "I recently heard about a counselor who shares Eric's songs with his patients. It's amazing. And it proves that the world needs the kind of music that Eric is making." (Andrew was on the verge of exclamation points!) I couldn't agree more. Eric has a unique perspective and approach to crafting his art, and I'm happy to put a lot of effort into helping others hear his songs.
This is where YOU come in. Eric is about to record his 9th album entitled Birds of Relocation. I've heard him play three of the new songs live, and it's terrific stuff. Eric just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the making of the record. He needs to raise $12,000 by November 18th, or he won't get ANY of it. [My secret goal is that through the generosity of friends like you, he will raise over $20,000. The actual cost to complete the album is $18,000, and we were just dreaming at a TGI Fridays about how fun it would be to have funds for an album release tour in 2012.]
If you view his Kickstarter page, you will see that you can actually receive valuable prizes for your financial gift. For $50, you can get an early download of the new album and 3 autographed physical CDs. For $100, you can get your name listed in the CD liner notes. For $400, you can join Eric's Book-Of-The-Month Club. For $1500, you can have a seafood dinner and private concert at Eric's home!
Please take some time and peruse the myriad tiers. Even the casual fan of Mr. Peters will find a tier that works for you (as low as $1). My encouragement to my UTR Family: please give on the early side (to really jump start the momentum of the campaign), and please be generous to my good friend - even maybe giving a couple tiers higher than what you might normally click on.
