March is Interview Month at UTR!

A lot of folks have told us that the artist interview shows are their favorite type of radio show we produce. We decided to dedicate the month of March to brand new episodes featuring exclusive interviews with folks who are in the VIP chair for the first time ever.  Here's what's in store...   AUDREY ASSAD  (March 4) We recently polled our Twitter followers, and the highest vote getter for UTR to do an interview with was Audrey Assad.  We have been playing her music for years, and we have always wanted to interview her.  She's an enigmatic personality in faith-based music, and hasn't been afraid to march to the beat of …

Andy Gullahorn Songwriters’ Workshop (FEB.11)

Just this week, I was meeting with two different people on two different days, and neither of them had heard of Andy Gullahorn. I said, "Oooh, I need to play you one of his songs." I first was struck with this dilemma: What song do I play? As I scanned my iTunes list, I was reminded of the sheer quantity of stellar songs this guy has released. I ended up picking a different song that catered to each individual (and for the record, they were "I Haven't Either" and "Workin' Man"), and of course both individuals were blown away!  We are thrilled to host this songwriting master craftsman in Chicago for a …

Top Gourmet Songs of 2015

A week and a half ago, our UTR Panel of Critics collectively proclaimed the Top 11 Gourmet Albums of 2015.  We asked them for some additional help by letting us know the individual songs that really captured their ears, minds, & hearts this last year. These selections are a bit more personal and even more subjective than the albums list, so it would be impossible to create a collective countdown.  Instead, we will list out all 50+ songs cited by our critics, in no particular order.  If you are someone that likes to cherry pick the best of the best songs for your music library, this list will give you …

Top 11 Gourmet Albums of 2015

It's time to honor the best of the best music that graced our ears in 2015.  Our honors are not for popularity, sales, or radio spins - our panel of critics voted on releases that plumbed the depths of creativity, honesty, spirituality, & artistry.  A wide array of well-crafted projects were cited by our critics, but these finalists the ones that showed up on the lists of multiple critics.  Here are The Top Gourmet Albums of 2015. [Albums qualified for consideration if the recording was made by Christian artists, contained over 50% new songs/arrangements, & released between 12/1/14 and 12/1/15.]                             …

2015 Top Albums - Honorable Mentions

As we close out 2015, it is the tradition of the UTR Critics Panel to convene and vote on the music that was the cream that rose to the top.  It's harder than most think to make our final Top 11 Gourmet Albums of the Year list (which will be published on 12/30/15).  There was so much good music to enjoy this year, and there were several amazing projects that almost made the Top 11 list, but fell just short. Still we would like to give them some deserved attention. So, here are the Honorable Mentions list of Top Albums for 2015 (in no particular order).                   …
