Today marks the release of the brand new
concept album Leonard, The Lonely Astronaut by Andrew Osenga. Earlier this month, our site published this rave review of the album, using words like entertaining, honest, brilliant, romantic, excellence, masterpiece. In honor of the new release, we asked some UTR listeners the following question:
If you were launched into space for a whole year and could only bring 1 CD with you, what would you choose to bring?
It was just a "fun" question at first, but the answers might reveal something helpful. Picking just one album to be your musical companion for a year means that one must find that album weighty, layered, spiritually engaging and musically creative. While we received over 50 picks, we trimmed it down a bit to showcase a list of phenominal CDs that might be a good reference for anyone wanting to find some well-crafted art that have already inspired others.

We should note that, appropriately, Leonard, The Lonely Astronaut was cited the most number of times in our poll. As of today, the project is available at iTunes, Amazon, and in the Rabbit Room Store. What CD would be your companion for a whole year in outer space?
Andrew Peterson Light for The Lost Boy, best album I have heard in years. PS Leonard, The Lonely Astronaut would be second. Hard choice.
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
A toss-up between Neal Morse “One” and Gideon’s Press “Bound for Nineveh”. Although, i haven’t heard Andy Osenga’s “Leonard the Lonely Astronaut” yet…
